OnePlus 7

Another week, one more round of leaks about the imminent OnePlus 7. The phone series has been a hot topic since the previous year, the first time we heard the phone wouldn’t implement 5G tech yet. A 5G phone alternative may still be on the horizon particularly since it will run on a Snapdragon 855 chipset which offers 5G support. The OnePlus 7 5G model is anticipated to be pricey but not that luxurious. One thing we recognize for sure will happen: a OnePlus 7 Pro will also be obtainable.

OnePlus 7 Pro photos were leaked on Weibo which destined an imminent launch. Just last week, phone cases of the OnePlus 7 Pro from Olixar appeared on Mobile Fun. Its evidence a Pro variant will be prepared because almost, forever, early sightings on Mobile Fun turn out to be true.

Other OnePlus 7 renders also show images for the Pro variant. We recognize both phones will be really fast and smooth and will officially launch subsequent month. More image renders and 360-video have appeared, showing us the latest phones could be flagship killers with OnePlus 5G apps and the absence of a notch or camera hole.

The newest leak we learned has something to do with the cameras of the OnePlus 7 Pro. Max J. of Samsung Mobile News shared the OnePlus 7 Pro will have a three-back camera system. It will contain 48MP main lens, an 8MP Telephoto lens with 3x zoom and F/2.4 aperture, and a 16MP Ultra-Wide Lens with F/2.2 aperture.

Details are still unconfirmed but the triple back camera can be anticipated. Rumor has it the Pro variant will boast an Adreno 640 GPU, 128GB or 256GB onboard storage space, 8GB or 12GB RAM, 16MP pop-up selfie camera, and a 4000mAh battery plus 44W Dash charging tech. The idea of a pop-up selfie shooter is latest from OnePlus but definitely not a new design.

Samsung Galaxy S10e live images appear on the web

We are receiving closer to D-Day when Samsung will expose the latest Galaxy S10 phones. The 10th Anniversary premium flagship smartphones from the South Korean tech giant will be a beloved subject at the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2019) in Barcelona. We know it will be compared with other upcoming flagship devices. One variant that will be launched is a “Lite” version but Samsung isn’t calling it that. The Samsung Galaxy S10E will be the slighter expensive variant with lesser specs.

A new-fangled set of images appeared on Weibo and we think the photos are legit. They seem to be prototype images but we don’t doubt the genuineness.

The Galaxy S10E shows a camera hole in the frontage display for the selfie camera. This could also be the premium Galaxy S10 but the bootup screen pictured shows that it’s the Samsung Galaxy S10e.

So it’s a small ‘e’. It could mean something but at this point, we’ll consider it as the lite variant.

New Samsung Galaxy S10E rendered images appeared online just a few days ago. We were told it could support WiFi 6 previously according to an FCC document. We noted yesterday Galaxy S10 pre-order will begin right after the Unpacked event but sales will start on March 8.

Samsung Galaxy S10 is all set to launch on February 20 this year. The tenth anniversary Galaxy phone from Samsung will probably have advanced camera technology on the orders of Lee Jae-Yong, the heir obvious of the company, as reported by Korean Herald.

The report quotes a Samsung executive saying that the company is working on improving camera functions for smartphone photography that has been measured a weakness on the accessible Galaxy phones.

Commenting on why Lee Jae-Yong made such a conclusion, the official said that previous year Lee visited Europe where he stopped up by a smartphone retailer. He asked the personal preferences of a store employee, who favored iPhone over Galaxy citing improved camera quality of the former.

“The issue was about how the excellence of pictures taken on the Galaxy smartphones was felt by individual users,” the Samsung administrator said notes the report.

“Some users say Galaxy pictures are much additional vivid, which is a reason why they prefer Galaxy phones, but some others say such brightness causes fatigue in eyes, describing the colors as being too sharp,” he added.

The official also said that iPhone seems better in creating sentimental photographs that are related to the eyes, so Samsung is seeking to get better with Galaxy in this area. With Samsung Galaxy phones, the pictures are much more soaked, and if the report is true, the company could change all of this. This would engage not just hardware tweaks, but also software tweaks.

The new sensor in Samsung Galaxy S10
There are speculations that Samsung could adopt the most recent image sensor branded ‘ISOCELL Slim 3T2’. The 5.1 mm image sensor is the smallest for a smartphone camera module. It can deliver 20MP declaration for both rear and front cameras.

The report mentions the timing of mass manufacture of these sensors coinciding with the launch of Samsung Galaxy S10 as the basis for its speculation. Samsung is predictable to introduce triple cameras on the Galaxy S10+ variant, while the Galaxy S10 5G and Bolt variant could have quad-cameras at the back. The Galaxy S10 series could also sport dual-front cameras with the Infinity-o-display.

Samsung Galaxy S10 specifications
At the launch event, Samsung is predictable to launch three variants of Samsung Galaxy S10, namely S10 Lite, S10, and S10 Plus. All variants of the phone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor for the US market or the Exynos 9820 processor for markets like India.

The 5.8-inch 2K+ SAMOLED display of Galaxy S10 and 6.3-inch SAMOLED display of Galaxy S10 Plus will have a cut-out or hole for the frontage camera. Samsung is calling this an Infinity-o display.

A Galaxy S10 Lite will also be introduced with a flat display, single back, and front camera. The Galaxy S10 will also see the company adding up an in-display fingerprint scanner. The Galaxy S10 5G and Bolt variant will come with 5G-ready capabilities and could be introduced later.

Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10 Plus, Galaxy S10 Plus ceramic edition, Galaxy S10 Plus ceramic variant price, Galaxy S10 launch, Galaxy S10 price in India, Galaxy S10 Lite

Samsung’s imminent Galaxy S10 is expected to be made obtainable in three variants, when the flagship phone gets launched in San Francisco on January 20. And currently, Ice Universe, popular phone leaker on Twitter, claims that the top-end version of the Galaxy S10 flagship could ship with 12GB RAM and 1TB internal storage space.

Noted tipster Ice Universe believes that Samsung plans to launch the ceramic version of the Galaxy S10+. Apparently, it will also arrive 12GB RAM and 1TB of internal storage. The tweet also said that the ceramic is made via a unique process that only makes it scratch defiant but also “resistant to falling”. Going by this logic, the handset will talented to survive more drops than the glass variant. However, the special feature gives the phone a bit more heaviness.

But the Galaxy S10+ isn’t going to be the first smartphone with a ceramic backside. Xiaomi and Essential are previously selling smartphones with a ceramic back. In fact, Xiaomi launched its Mi Mix with a ceramic back in 2016.

The launch of the Galaxy S10 is going to take place in San Francisco on January 20. Instead of launching two variants of the Galaxy S10, there will be three models in total: the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, and Galaxy S10E. Early estimates advise the smartphone to cost $710 for the base model and $1800 for the top-end model. There are plans to launch a 5G-ready variant of the Galaxy S10 at the similar Galaxy Unpacked event in San Francisco. Samsung previously previewed its 5G-enabled prototype smartphone at this year’s CES in Las Vegas.

LG might build a phone you can add an additional screen to… no joke

You’ve got to present it to LG for constantly trying to out-innovate their contest, from modular phones like the LG G5 to phones with way too many cameras. The company is now it seems that leaning towards promotion you one with an optional second screen. A folding phone, however, this is not.

According to CNET, LG is getting prepared to show off multiple devices counting the LG G8 at Mobile World Congress next month. One of these new devices will include an optional second screen. There’s no confirmation whether LG will market this as an alternative of the G8 or as a completely innovative series.

It is believed the added screen will turn up as part of a case for the phone, it seems that giving you more screen space to work with. This screen would most probably make use of the USB Type-C port or perhaps a proprietary connector.

The jury is still out on whether we actually want dual screen phones, but what about a second screen attached to a case? This solution could potentially be used as a folio-style device with a stylus. Or how about a modern-day communicator with the keyboard tear over on the other half? Since the screen would be on the inside, it would also be fairly secluded next to drops and scratching

Top 6 2018 Highlights of Smartphone Industry

It’s a brand-new year. I bet by now you’ve made additional long list of resolutions—or not. It’s longer now because you haven’t actually fulfilled any of the resolutions but are now adding new promises. For us in the Android community, we’re not making any New Year’s Resolutions—maybe not yet. We’re looking frontward to a brand-new year where the mobile commerce is becoming more advanced than ever in terms of new technologies, design, and growth. Before we list down what new things to imagine for 2019, allow us to summarize some of the top stories in the smartphone game.

1. Notch

Top 6 2018 Smartphone Related Highlights

The notch. Not numerous people may be contented with this addition but the new design has been applied by several OEMs. Some will say it’s not aesthetically pleasing but such acceptable mobile devices to attain almost bezel-less displays.

The notch permitted for a bigger screen real estate and we have the Essential Phone to thank for making the notch more widespread. Actually, there’ also the iPhone X and even before Apple, Sharp did with the Aquos S2 and the Aquos R Compact. We incline to overlook about these devices because they weren’t as popular.

When 2018 entered, the notch became an attention by most OEMs. Earlier in the year, the ASUS Z01RD was benchmarked with a notch. It is supposed to be the Zenfone 5 looking like the iPhone X’s. The Huawei P20 was also rumored to have a notch just similar the Oppo R15 and R15 Plus as leaked on Weibo.

Before Q1 ended, LG launched the G7 ThinQ with a notched display. And then there derived a rumor Apple may be plummeting the notch design. The next-gen Essential Phone has been rumored to ditch the notch as well. Stimulatingly, more notch teasers were heard counting those for the Xiaomi Mi 7 and the OnePlus 6.

Vivo V9 images also presented a notch while OPPO formally launched the R15 and R15 Dream Mirror Edition in China with a notch.

Huawei did familiarize the P20 series phone but said the notch is part of transition only. Soon, more brands followed and executed the notch including the OnePlus 6, ZTE Iceberg concept, Nokia X6 (Nokia 6.1 Plus), NOKIA X5, Google Pixel 3 XL, and OPPO A3s. As if a solitary notch isn’t sufficient, Sharp bowled out the AQUOS R2 Compact with double notches.

The notch may be gone soon because of the arrival of the camera-hole screen technology. Samsung hurled the Infinity-O cutout and camera-hole display and then we erudite about the Samsung Galaxy A8s. Huawei has been set on competing with Samsung in this new arena with hole-screen smartphones as it just proclaimed the Huawei Nova 4 and the Honor View20 in China.

2. Huawei not welcome in the US

Top 6 2018 Smartphone Related Highlights

Starting December 2017, Huawei was harassed to get its place in the US market. But no thanks to the US management for blocking all of the Chinese OEM’s effort to arrive the country. There’s the Honor brand alright but Huawei hasn’t fully penetrated the American market.

We even said Samsung and Apple would be tested by Huawei. To be honest, we never doubted that. The company was alleged to enter the market with Verizon and AT&T but to no avail.

Huawei was said not to be giving up on the US market as avowed by the CEO but the government was serious. US carriers were advised by lawmakers to cut deals. US intellect chiefs also cautioned citizens from using Huawei devices. We don’t think Huawei will ever win even if it has countless products to offer.

Huawei was being investigated in the US over illegitimate sales in Iran. Together with ZTE devices, Huawei phones were banned from being marketed in US military bases. An authorized defence policy bill that banned Huawei and ZTE was signed by President Trump back in August.

3. ZTE sanctioned

The same matter has pretentious ZTE but the government appears to be bent on targeting Huawei. ZTE has been one of the top phone makers in the US mostly because it offers inexpensive phones with almost premium specs. Earlier this in 2018, ZTE was authorized for lying to the US government. It was asked to cease processes of main business due to U.S sanctions.

But then again, Trump ordered Commerce Department to support out ZTE. It did obtain a second chance via White House but would need to clean up its act.

We shared with you the timeline of what actually happened. ZTE was saved but had to pay a high price. Trump tried to block the contract again but the US government gave ZTE provisional retrieve.

ZTE was soon permissible to do business with US suppliers again. We supposed it’s finally, truly safe.

4. Facebook-Cambridge Analytica Scandal

Top 6 2018 Smartphone Related Highlights

Facebook has been hit and interrogated dozens of times this year. It ongoing to simplify and rationalize Messenger app this 2018 and said it was testing out Watch Party for Groups. Cambridge Analytica then happened. Facebook was originate to be gathering all sorts of data for several resolutions that outraged millions of people.

The scandal didn’t die fast that people were being advised to delete Facebook. The issue was emphasized more because user data were allegedly used to help the Trump campaign team manipulate voters during the 2016 presidential election.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg released an official declaration and detailed how the company was taking steps to make sure the condition doesn’t happen again.

Facebook was doing its best to making things easier for people like conclusion and understanding privacy controls. We taught our booklovers how to check Facebook information was opened by Cambridge Analytica. Facebook then planned a “new” and clearer service and data policy.

The company has continuous to restrict 3rd party app’s access to users’ data, as well as, re-announced more privacy notices to comply with EU’s GDPR.

Facebook available Community Standards and internal strategies. As one of the several effects, 200 apps were postponed from Facebook for likely privacy violations.

Facebook is being more cautious and still wants to protect you from “non-consensual intimate image uploads”. There’s the Facebook two-factor verification taking security seriously.

Facebook’s latest privacy problem was made identified to us and we were repeated to be careful.

There was a leak Facebook acknowledged. If that’s not enough, Instagram also admitted passwords of some users exposed as plaintext just in November.

5. Huawei beats Apple

Top 6 2018 Smartphone Related Highlights

We distinguished it would happen: Huawei overtaking Apple. That’s even after the international mobile market saw a decline in Q2 2018. After Samsung and Apple, Huawei has always been the brand to beat. It wasn’t shocking at all because the top Chinese OEM has been rising up the charts.

The smartphone sales displayed why Huawei was a force to reckon with. Samsung was still number one but it may see further challenges particularly after its inactive growth amidst disappointing S9 sales.

In China, there’s Huawei, OPPO, Vivo, and Xiaomi. Xiaomi was previously beaten by Oppo and Vivo but it still is one of the more prolific ones launching dissimilar and innovative products. Huawei wants to be No. 1 in the world. It will also roll out a foldable phone this year so we’ll be cautious in watching the mobile industry.

6. Foldable-Flexible Display

Top 6 2018 Smartphone Related Highlights

The foldable display technology started as a thought but it’s now a realism. Well, almost since we have yet to see an genuine foldable phone from the biggest OEMs.

As early as 2016, we learned about Samsung’s plans to make a bendy smartphone. A flexible display was shown off and we were told a foldable smartphone would reach very soon. The South Korean tech giant was compressed by the Moxi bendable smartphone prototype and we soon heard about other companies employed on their on foldable-flexible devices such as Lenovo, LG, Google, and ZTE.

In the latter part of 2017, ZTE presented off the Axon Multy dual screen phone which turned up officially as the ZTE Axon M foldable phone. It claimed to be the first truly foldable phone.

More companies shared their foldable phone strategies like OPPO, Huawei, and Motorola.

So far, we distinguish the LG foldable-flexible phone may not be proclaimed at CES 2019 but the OPPO foldable smartphone may be publicized in Barcelona. LG already filed for five brand names related to upcoming foldable phones. Huawei also listed foldable-flexible names for a trademark. OnePlus may also follow.

Google is also employed on Multi-Resume, Multi-Display for Foldables and other devices, as well as, Android support for foldables.

A real foldable-flexible phone went ahead of the competition in the form of FlexPai. That’s right, an unidentified company already beat Samsung, Huawei, and other more widespread brands out there.

Nokia 5.1 Plus is newest device to get hot slice of Android Pie

Nokia 5.1 Plus

HMD Global carried Android Pie to the Nokia 8 previous week, but the firm isn’t finished just yet. The Nokia brand licensee has just proclaimed that the update is now heading to the Nokia 5.1 Plus too.

Juho Sarvikas, HMD Global’s chief product officer, confirmed the news on Twitter. Exact details weren’t released, but we’re expecting a phased roll-out over the next few days. Don’t fright if you’re not seeing the update on your device just yet.

Screenshots of the change-log display that the Nokia 5.1 Plus update considers in at over 1.2GB, and is said to contain new system navigation functionality, Adaptive Battery, Adaptive Brightness, and “predictive request actions.” The latter sounds like a fancy name for Android Pie’s App Actions feature. Otherwise, you can also imagine the December 2018 security patches to be comprised in this update.

Otherwise, you can also imagine the December 2018 security patches to be comprised in this update.

We’re pleased to see Adaptive Battery seemingly comprised in the roll-out, especially after this feature didn’t make it into the Nokia 8’s Android Pie update. HMD is reportedly carrying the feature to the 2017 flagship in a later update.

We’re prepared to see the Finnish company upgrading its inexpensive phones, but Twitter users have voiced their annoyance at the lack of Pie for the Nokia 8 Sirocco. Sarvikas previously said the Sirocco’s update would be “next in line” after the Nokia 8, so we can surely see why possessors of the pseudo-flagship would be upset.

ASUS files obvious for pop-up camera on smartphones

Asus Zenfone

While a lot of the smartphones out this year have notches, not everyone truly likes it as it can sometimes look beautifully unpleasant. OEMs are now trying to figure out a way to make the notch minor and have as much screen land as they can. One option would be to have mechanical pop-up cameras and based on a new patent discovered, ASUS appears to be the newest brand that may maybe try to apply that tech to their upcoming smartphones.

The patents were filed with the European Union Intelligent Property Office and published by the Let’s Go Digital website. Based on the patents, ASUS may be employed on a smartphone that may have a pop-up component for the camera or a display hole for the selfie camera. Although of course, as we distinguish by now, not all patents finally make it into actual products.

The patent shows three dissimilar sizes. The first one has a pop-up that is sufficient for just one camera while the second one is a bit wider and should be able to accommodate more than one module. The third one has a wider pop-up and they will be able to place various sensors as well as 3D Face recognition.

Another design seen in the patent has a camera hole at the top left angle of the display. It even has a thin earpiece grill on the tiny bezel at the top of the earphone. This looks similar to what the Samsung Galaxy A8 and the Huawei Nova 4. Again, there is no declaration that we will actually see products out of these patents, but it’s still exciting to see what they may be working on.

Huawei shipped 200M smartphones this year despite US disapproval of the brand

Huawei Mobiles

Who wants the US government’s authorization to become one of the world’s most popular smartphones? Apparently not Huawei. Despite the US continually pressuring carriers and companies to not transmit the brand’s smartphones in the US due to security concerns, it has still achieved to ship a record 200M smartphones in 2018, increasing their 2017 haul of 153M. This is due to the worldwide popularity of both their flagship devices as well as their other mid-range lines like Honor and Nova.

If you’ve been following tech news, then you’re familiar with the US government’s movement to all but ban Huawei devices, counting smartphones. They trust the brand colludes with the Chinese government to use their message devices to spy on US citizens and perhaps the US government itself, an allegation that Huawei repeatedly denies. But despite their less than exemplary sales in the US because of these accusations, they have still achieved to post record numbers and is expected to close the year with 200M devices shipped all throughout.

Their flagship lines have donated a lot to these numbers. The P20 shipped 16 million units while the Mate 20 family had 5 million. But it’s actually their mid-range devices like the Nova line that have donated to their sales. They have shipped 65 million units since the Nova series started. Even their Honor line has been decent sales-wise, although they did not bounce actual numbers, excluding to say that the Honor 10 and the Honor View 10 have been “significant factors” expressly in their home, China.

However, the suspicion from countries like the US may perhaps finally affect the brand. There has been weight from other countries as well, chiefly when it comes to their networking equipment. As long as people are suspicious about the Chinese government’s plans on espionage and such, Chinese brands will have to fight against these doubts and accusations. Let’s see what 2019 holds for Huawei.
