Xiaomi, OPPO working on respective in-display camera technology

Xiaomi, OPPO working on respective in-display camera technology

The fight for a true bezel-less display may be over soon. That is, if the under display camera technology Xiaomi and OPPO are introducing will be implemented very shortly. Nothing is final and authorized yet but the two Chinese OEM are both showing off what appears to be a hidden selfie camera below the display. We don’t see any notch nor a camera hole. Oppo’s version shows slighter bezels though compared to Xiaomi’s. This isn’t the first time we’re hearing about the tech. If you may keep in mind, an LG patent showed a fullscreen phone with in display camera.

LG’s idea was exposed to us previous year but it’s only now we’re seeing a genuine, working sample. We can’t say what Xiaomi and OPPO are showing off are one and the similar but we’re not surprised these Chinese OEMs are first.

Xiaomi simply wants to provide us a sneak peek at the future and this under-display camera technology could be a leader.

Aside from OPPO, Xiaomi, and LG, we recognize Samsung is also looking into the full-screen smartphone technology. It previously started by launching phones with camera holes in front but a completely bezel-less screen is the eventual goal.

LG’s former design was thought to arrive with a slider design. That is another option but the patent said a full screen phone with under display camera.

The idea of a bezel-less phone first started when the notch idea came. The objective was to bring a bigger screen actual estate. If a selfie camera is hidden or is set in a different position, then the larger the chance of a superior display.

From notch to camera hole to pop-up or hidden cameras, the bezel-less vision is coming closer and closer to realism. Now let’s wait and see for any declaration from either Xiaomi or OPPO.

Xiaomi isn’t a stranger to latest and innovative technologies. In fact, it has become preferred because the Chinese OEM knows the gadget business very well. The brand launches high-specced smartphones at reasonable prices alongside many smart devices. It is now considered a lifestyle brand because it has reached numerous areas of our life. After exciting us with a Super Charge Turbo charger and the Black Shark 2, Xiaomi is teasing an innovative foldable phone. It’s been doing so since the previous year although no significant information is being shared.

We started the year with a Xiaomi foldable phone being demoed in a cryptic video. The prototype and demo video by a company administrative was real.

The foldable phone won’t be announced anytime soon but we believe it’s previously working. Some renders have surfaced showing an outward display.

Just recently, another demo video popped up showing the Xiaomi foldable phone in action

It is one fast video but we can say the foldable phone by Xiaomi has the potential to beat the Huawei Mate X and the Samsung Galaxy Fold. We have no idea about the specs but we’re assuming they will be premium.

We’re probably looking at at least 12GB of RAM, 128GB onboard storage space, or the most recent Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset. The display appears a bit square when opened. The two-fold outward design seems enhanced than the others we’ve seen but let’s wait and see for the actual device.
