Our information about the Sony Xperia 1 began when the purple edition of the phone was leaked before the MWC 2019 launch. It then was announced a few days later in Barcelona with a topnotch 21:9 CinemaWide 4K HDR OLED screen. The display is really remarkable as it is the first 4K OLED to ever exist in a mobile device. Usually, we only see 4K OLED on TVs but Sony has the ability to bring such technology to slighter screens.

Sony isn’t a stranger to 4K displays. Smartphones with 4K screens aren’t also the latest thing but Sony Xperia 1 is the first ever to use 4K OLED.

Seeing the 21:9 CinemaWide 4K HDR OLED display feature alone can be overwhelming but we have yet to examine the phone. Interestingly, we’re learning the smartphone will not relapse to 1080p for most of the apps and the UI.

If you may remember, the XZ2 Premium’s display is 4K but it moves to 1080p. This time, the latest Android phone will use 3840 x 1644 pixels 4K resolution all the time.

Apps must support 4K though so those that do won’t show 4K–just Full HD. But excellent news, Sony is working on updating support to 4K for native apps like the Home Screen, Settings, Gallery, and even Netflix.

Xperia 10 Plus

Two latest Xperia phones join the Sony Xperia 1. Don’t be puzzled but the Xperia 10 and Xperia 10 Plus obviously look extremely similar. Just like the Xperia 1, there’s the 21:9 aspect ratio but it’s only Wide Full HD+ display for the Xperia 10 series as part of the brand’s super mid-range tier. The Plus variant’s screen is superior at 6.5-inches while the Xperia 10 only has a 6-inch display. To be honest, the ordinary eyes won’t really notice the dissimilarity in declaration. What matters is the size, even if it’s only a mobile device. The superior, the better–but the phone should still be compact to hold.

What makes the duo obvious winners is the 21:9 multi-windows UI that allows two apps to be viewed and used at the similar time. This feature is also made probable by Android 9 Pie but we can look forward to more attractive features. Like the 21:9 Movie recording in 4K, double cameras on both, SteadyShot function, Sony’s High-Resolution Audio and LDAC, and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630/636 processor.

The smartphones arrive with Bokeh effect for a dramatic shooting experience. Meanwhile, the SteadyShot feature allows the devices to record blur-free videos. The double back cameras differ– 13MP + 5MP for the Sony Xperia 10 and 12MP + 8MP for the Sony Xperia 10 Plus.

When it comes to battery, the 2870mAh batt and 3000mAh batt are sufficient to provide the Xperia phones a decent battery life. The Sony Xperia 10 will be out in Pink, Silver Navy, and Black $349.99 price tag. The Sony Xperia 10 Plus will be out in the similar colors (except for Pink). The Gold color option is select for the Xperia 10 Plus.

The price tag of the Plus variant reads $429.99. The devices will be obtainable in the US beginning March 18 via Verizon.

Sony’s mobile business is in deep trouble. Despite its endeavor to reinvent its Xperia line, its previous earnings are leaving analysts wondering if this year will be Sony Mobile’s previous hurrah. The company, however, has forever been stubborn about its smartphones, despite and in spite of all the odds. Expected to headline this coming MWC 2019, the Xperia XZ4 could also provide smartphone users something to talk about. Provided it’s not yet too late for the Xperia brand, that is.

Despite making competitive digital cameras, Sony has fallen way behind when it came to smartphone cameras. Which is both sad and ironic allowing for it makes the sensors that other smartphone makers use and boast about. It’s almost as if it treasury those high-end sensors for its consumers, leaving nothing for its own Xperia phones.

The Xperia XZ4 could change that trend, at least for this year. According to the most recent leak, not only will it have three cameras on its back, one of those will be the maximum ever in the market in terms of megapixel count. Trumping the Honor View 20’s 48 megapixel sensor, which, another time, was made by Sony, the upcoming Sony flagship will boast of a still-unannounced 52 megapixel sensor with a large f/1.6 aperture lens.

As mentioned, it won’t be alone. Based on the leaked image, there will be a 16 megapixel f/2.6 telephoto camera on top and a 0.3 megapixel f/1.4 Time-of-Flight sensor under. The latter seems to be a new trend, even though its correct practical use has yet to be elaborated.

Given the Xperia XZ4’s rumored specs and, now, these three cameras, it seems expected it will be Sony’s premium 2019 flagship, despite not having the usual “Premium” label. That will leave it a bit handicapped later this year without the latest flagship unless it previously foresees the Xperia XZ4 could very well be it is last.
